I’ve often heard commentators in Snooker saying a player has difficulty ‘getting over the finish line’ – that is, getting the required number of frames to win. For example, a player might dominate play but then progress stalls as they approach the frame they need to win. Is there any truth to this phenomenon? My hunch is that the rate of progress rises and falls throughout the match and the ‘finish line’ is a somewhat arbitrary point so the same stalling could be seen at different points in the match. Is this something you have looked in to?
